Stratford-upon-Avon Registry / The Royal Pug, Leamington Spa
It’s always a special honour being bestowed with the task of photographing someone’s special day, and this feeling is amplified when it’s the special day of someone we already know.
Gemma was my deskmate throughout GSCE and A-Level French class many moons ago so when she got in touch with regard to photographing her wedding I was thrilled. Even though we hadn’t spoken for the better part of 15 years it felt like no time had passed at all when we went over to her and Kris’ place to talk all things wedding and caught up.
The day itself was split between Stratford-upon-Avon and their adopted home town of Leamington Spa. The morning was a very relaxed affair at the couples’ beautiful Leamington home and we moved to Stratford for the very intimate ceremony, shared only with the very closest family. After the ceremony we took a walk through the streets of Stratford, stopping for photos at every possible option. We finally ended up at the Royal Shakespeare Company where we used their balcony to get some lovely shots of the family with the city and surrounding countryside and left the guests to enjoy their wedding lunch as we headed on to Leamington to prepare for the evening’s events.
Quick shout to Lydia and her team at the wonderful Warwick Street Kitchen who provided us with a venue to take five, download our photos and enjoy some amazing coffee and equally amazing food.
We rejoined the couple at Leamington’s stunning botanical gardens where we took the opportunity to grab a few couple shots (some of our favourites that we’ve ever taken) in the sprawling greenery. As the sun dipped into a golden evening glow, friends and family joined them in the gardens for drinks and more photos. A quick stroll down the street led us to The Royal Pug which would be the venue for the evenings festivities. The upstairs room was beautifully decked out in dark woods, quirky decor and had a feel of an old speakeasy. A gorgeous intimate setting for a relaxed evening with friends and family.
